Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Dominica.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Dominica.

In Dominica, a foreigner who wishes to drive legally must obtain a local driving permit. This can be acquired from the Traffic Department or car rental agencies. The individual must present a valid driver's license from their home country. The local driving permit is valid for one year. It's important to note that driving in Dominica is on the left-hand side of the road.

There are no specific requirements that differ based on the city, state, or region in Dominica. The rules and regulations for driving are consistent throughout the entire country. However, drivers should be aware that the terrain in Dominica can be challenging, with winding roads and steep hills, so extra caution is advised.
