Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Kenya.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Kenya.

In Kenya, foreigners who wish to drive legally must have a valid international driving permit (IDP) along with their domestic driving license. The IDP must be issued by the same country that issued their domestic license. The IDP and domestic license must be carried at all times when driving. It's also important to note that the IDP is valid for only one year. After this period, foreigners are required to apply for a Kenyan driving license.

Additionally, the vehicle being driven must be insured and the driver must be at least 18 years old. It's also mandatory to carry a reflective jacket in the car, and the driver must wear it in case of a breakdown or an emergency. The driver must also have a warning triangle in the car.

As for regional differences, the driving rules and regulations in Kenya are uniform across the entire country. There are no specific requirements that differ based on the city, state, or region in which a foreigner lives. However, it's always advisable to be aware of local traffic rules and customs, as driving conditions and practices can vary.
