Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Malaysia.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Malaysia.

In Malaysia, foreigners are allowed to drive if they hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) from their home country. This permit must be accompanied by a valid driving license from the home country. If the foreign license is not in English, it should be translated to English or Malay. The IDP and foreign license are valid for a period of one year. After one year, foreigners must obtain a Malaysian driving license.

Foreigners can also convert their foreign driving license to a Malaysian driving license under the bilateral agreement if their countries are listed in the agreement. The conversion process involves passing a computer test on Malaysian Road Signs and Rules.

There are no specific requirements that differ based on the city, state, or region in Malaysia. The rules and regulations for driving are consistent throughout the country. However, it's important to note that traffic rules and regulations must be strictly followed as Malaysia has strict laws regarding traffic violations.
