Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Nigeria.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Nigeria.

Foreigners who wish to drive in Nigeria must have a valid international driving permit (IDP) or a foreign license that is written in English. The IDP must be obtained from the country of origin before traveling to Nigeria. In addition to the IDP, foreigners must also have a valid passport and visa. It is also recommended to have a comprehensive insurance cover. The driving age in Nigeria is 18 years old.

As for regional differences, the requirements for driving in Nigeria are generally the same across all states and regions. However, the traffic rules and regulations may vary slightly. It is advisable for foreigners to familiarize themselves with the local traffic laws and regulations of the state or region they are in. Also, road conditions and driving habits can vary greatly across different parts of the country, so it's important to be cautious and aware while driving.

It's worth noting that driving in Nigeria can be challenging due to the high rate of road accidents and poor road conditions in some areas. Therefore, it's recommended to hire a local driver or use public transportation if possible.
