Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Papua New Guinea.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Papua New Guinea.

In Papua New Guinea, foreigners who wish to drive must have a valid international driving permit (IDP) along with their valid home country driving license. The IDP must be obtained in the driver's home country before arriving in Papua New Guinea. It's also important to note that the driving license must be in English or accompanied by an official English translation. If a foreigner plans to stay in the country for a long period, they may need to apply for a local driving license.

As for regional differences, Papua New Guinea does not have different driving requirements based on the city, state, or region. The same rules apply throughout the country. However, road conditions can vary greatly across different regions, so drivers should always exercise caution and familiarize themselves with local road conditions and customs.
