The public healthcare system in Tajikistan is known as the State Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions (SASIP). This system is designed to provide basic healthcare services to all residents of the country. However, it's important to note that the quality of healthcare in Tajikistan is generally considered to be lower than in many Western countries. This is due to a variety of factors, including a lack of funding and resources, outdated medical equipment, and a shortage of trained medical professionals.

While the SASIP is not mandatory for all residents, most people in Tajikistan do use the system due to the high costs of private healthcare. The cost of public healthcare is generally low, but the quality of care can vary greatly depending on the region and the specific healthcare facility.

Eligibility for Foreigners

Foreigners are allowed to enroll in the SASIP, but there are certain requirements that must be met. First, the foreigner must be legally residing in Tajikistan. It's important to note that even after enrolling in the SASIP, foreigners may still choose to seek private healthcare due to the variable quality of public healthcare in Tajikistan. Many foreigners choose to take out private health insurance to cover the cost of private healthcare. This can provide access to better quality care and more advanced medical treatments.
