While there are many things to think about before you leave, such as visas, housing, and transportation, it's important to remember that once you arrive, the fun really begins. In this article, we'll introduce you to some of the best sites, restaurants, and nightlife that Abu Dhabi has to offer, as well as provide tips on recreational activities and making friends in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions for tourists and locals alike. From its stunning beaches and world-class shopping malls to its iconic landmarks and cultural attractions, Abu Dhabi has something for everyone.

For those looking to explore the city’s cultural heritage, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a must-see. This stunning mosque is one of the largest in the world and features intricate Islamic architecture and design. The nearby Heritage Village is also worth a visit, offering a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the region.

For those looking for a more modern experience, Abu Dhabi is home to some of the world’s most luxurious shopping malls. The Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi Mall, and Yas Mall are all popular destinations for shopping, dining, and entertainment. The city also boasts a number of world-class theme parks, including Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

When it comes to dining and nightlife, Abu Dhabi has plenty to offer. The city is home to a wide variety of restaurants, from traditional Emirati cuisine to international fare. Some of the most popular restaurants include Al Fanar, a traditional Emirati restaurant, and The Foundry, a modern gastropub. For a more upscale experience, try the award-winning restaurant, Zuma.

When it comes to nightlife, Abu Dhabi has plenty of bars and clubs to choose from. The popular Skylite Rooftop Bar offers stunning views of the city skyline, while the chic and trendy Barfly is a great spot for cocktails and live music. For a more traditional experience, head to the popular Irish Village, a popular pub with live music and traditional Irish fare.

When it comes to recreational activities, Abu Dhabi has plenty to offer. Popular activities include golf, tennis, and water sports. The city is home to a number of world-class golf courses, including the Abu Dhabi Golf Club and the Yas Links. For tennis, the Abu Dhabi Tennis Academy is a great option, offering lessons and tournaments for all levels. Insider Tips from Expats in Abu Dhabi: Making the Most of Life and Connections

"AWN American Womens Network (primarily Americans, but all are welcome...can tend to be a bit highbrow), WIAD Women in Abu Dhabi (A very international flair, this ladies group does some serious traveling!)," said one expat living in Abu Dhabi.

"American Women's Network, Women in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Womens Group, Abu Dhabi Ladies Group, all send newsletters to members," wrote a member in Abu Dhabi.

"Expats in Abu Dhabi can join a variety of clubs and activities, such as sports teams, book clubs, and language classes. Expats can also meet people by attending events hosted by local organizations, such as art galleries, music venues, and cultural centers. Additionally, many expats find it helpful to join online forums and social media groups dedicated to connecting expats in Abu Dhabi. "Though Abu Dhabi is more traditional compared to its glitzy sister Dubai, and family values/activities are stressed, nightspots are available for singles as well. It's an easier gig for families, as so much of life for an American expat here revolves around the ACS American Community School. They have a veritable cornucopia of activities and events planned for both students and their parents," commented an expat living in Abu Dhabi.

"Life for expats and digital nomads in Abu Dhabi is generally quite comfortable. The city is modern and well-developed, with plenty of amenities and services to make life easier. The cost of living is relatively low, and the city is home to a diverse range of cultures and nationalities. The climate is hot and dry, but the city is well-equipped with air conditioning and other modern comforts. The city is also home to a vibrant nightlife, with plenty of bars, clubs, and restaurants to explore. Abu Dhabi is a great place for digital nomads to work and live, with plenty of opportunities for networking and collaboration," said an expat in Abu Dhabi.
