Can I live in Ampang on $1,500 a month?

"I've been living in Ampang for a while now, and I can tell you that it's definitely possible to live comfortably on $1,500 a month, but you'll have to make some sacrifices. First, you'll need to find an affordable place to live. Some of the more expensive neighborhoods in Ampang, like Ampang Hilir and Taman TAR, might be out of your budget. Instead, consider looking for a place in more affordable areas like Pandan Indah, Taman Kosas, or Taman Dagang. You can find a decent apartment or condo in these areas for around $300 to $500 a month.Next, you'll need to be mindful of your transportation costs. Owning a car can be quite expensive in Malaysia, so I'd recommend using public transportation like the LRT or buses, which are quite affordable and reliable. If you need to use a taxi or ride-sharing service occasionally, that's fine, but try to limit it to keep your costs down. When it comes to food, eating out at local restaurants and street food stalls can be quite affordable, with meals costing around $2 to $5. However, if you prefer Western food or dining at more upscale restaurants, you'll need to cut back on that, as it can be quite expensive. Cooking at home can also help you save money, especially if you shop at local markets for fresh produce and ingredients.Entertainment and leisure activities can also add up, so you'll need to be selective about what you do in your free time. There are plenty of free or low-cost activities to enjoy in Ampang, like visiting parks, hiking trails, and local attractions. However, you might need to cut back on more expensive activities like going to the movies, attending concerts, or joining a gym.Lastly, be prepared to limit your travel and vacations. While there are many beautiful places to visit in Malaysia and nearby countries, frequent trips can quickly eat into your budget. Plan your trips carefully and look for deals and discounts to make the most of your travel budget.Overall, living in Ampang on $1,500 a month is doable, but you'll need to be mindful of your spending and make some sacrifices. By choosing an affordable neighborhood, using public transportation, eating local food, and being selective about your leisure activities, you can live comfortably and enjoy your time in Malaysia," commented an expat living in Ampang.

Can I live in Ampang on $3,500 a month?

"I've been living in Ampang for a while now, and I can tell you that it's definitely possible to live comfortably on $3,000 a month, even if you're used to modern amenities. However, you might have to make some sacrifices in terms of the neighborhood you choose to live in and the type of housing you opt for.For example, some of the more upscale neighborhoods in Ampang, like Ampang Hilir and Taman TAR, might be a bit too expensive if you're trying to stick to a $3,000 budget. Rent for a decent-sized apartment in these areas can easily go above $1,500 a month, which might not leave you with enough money for other expenses like utilities, groceries, and transportation.Instead, I'd recommend looking into more affordable neighborhoods like Pandan Indah, Taman Dagang, or Taman Kosas. These areas still offer a good quality of life, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and other amenities nearby, but the rent for a comfortable apartment or house is usually more in the range of $500 to $1,000 a month. This should leave you with enough money to cover your other living expenses and still have some left over for entertainment and travel. In terms of sacrifices, you might have to give up some of the luxury features you're used to, like a swimming pool or gym in your apartment complex. However, there are still plenty of public facilities available in Ampang, like community pools and parks, so you won't be completely missing out.Another thing to consider is transportation. Owning a car in Malaysia can be quite expensive, so you might want to rely on public transportation instead. Ampang is well-connected by the LRT (Light Rail Transit) system, which can take you to most parts of Kuala Lumpur quickly and affordably. You might also want to invest in a bicycle or scooter for shorter trips around the neighborhood.Overall, living in Ampang on a $3,000 budget is definitely doable, but you'll need to be smart about your housing choices and be willing to make some sacrifices in terms of luxury amenities," said one expat living in Ampang.

Can I live in Ampang on $5,000 a month?

"I've been living in Ampang for a few years now, and I can tell you that it's definitely possible to live comfortably on $5,000 a month, especially if you're used to modern amenities. In fact, you might not even have to make too many sacrifices to make it work. Ampang is a pretty affordable place to live, and you can find a nice apartment or house in a good neighborhood without breaking the bank. Some of the more affordable neighborhoods in Ampang include Taman Kosas, Taman Bukit Indah, and Taman Ampang Jaya. These areas offer a good mix of local and expat communities, and you can find a decent place to live for around $1,000 to $1,500 a month.Of course, there are more expensive neighborhoods in Ampang as well, like Ampang Hilir and Taman U-Thant, where you'll find luxury condos and houses. If you're looking to save money, I'd recommend avoiding these areas, as the cost of living can be significantly higher. In terms of other expenses, you'll find that groceries, transportation, and utilities are all quite affordable in Ampang. Eating out at local restaurants can be very cheap, but if you prefer Western-style dining, you might end up spending a bit more. However, even with these expenses, you should still be able to live comfortably on $5,000 a month. One sacrifice you might have to make is adjusting to the local culture and way of life. While Ampang is a relatively modern and developed area, it's still Malaysia, and you'll need to adapt to the local customs and traditions. This might mean learning some basic Malay, getting used to the local food, and adjusting to the climate, which can be hot and humid.Overall, I think you'll find that living in Ampang on $5,000 a month is not only possible but also quite comfortable. You'll be able to enjoy modern amenities and a good quality of life without having to make too many sacrifices," commented an expat living in Ampang.
