Urban   Coastal   Beaches

Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru, located on the country's arid Pacific coast. It is a bustling metropolis that serves as the cultural, economic, and political heart of the nation. The city is a melting pot of cultures, with a rich history that dates back to pre-Columbian times, evident in its many museums, churches, and archaeological sites. Lima's historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage site, featuring colonial architecture, grand plazas, and ornate churches. The city is also known for its vibrant food scene, which includes street food stalls, local markets, and world-class restaurants that showcase the diversity of Peruvian cuisine. Lima's neighborhoods vary from the upscale Miraflores and San Isidro, with their modern amenities and cliff-top parks, to the more traditional Barranco, known for its bohemian vibe and colorful art scene. Despite its desert location, Lima has a number of green spaces and public parks, such as the Parque Kennedy and the expansive Parque de la Reserva, which is famous for its magical water and light show. The city's coastal location also means that it is a gateway to the beaches of the Pacific, which are popular for surfing and other water sports. Lima is a city of contrasts, where traditional and modern influences coexist, offering residents and visitors a dynamic and multifaceted urban experience.
