"We are a family of 4, small children, my husband works abroad a lot and we are moving up to Portugal to shorten our ‘apart’ time as he mainly works in Europe. We are currently living in Cape Town, South Africa. We are planning on moving up between May and June this year … We are not quite sure exactly where we see each ourselves. We initially thought Cascais, but are more and more open to other outskirt areas of Lisbon. We are slowly wrapping our heads around this massive move, so just trying to establish a bit of connection here to get the ball rolling. My main concern is finding the boys a happy and good schooling environment which is proofing to be quite difficult as they are currently in a Montessori learning environment which I’d like to keep for some years to come." - motography

"I'm a little confused about how much it would take to have a fairly comfortable life in Portugal. I currently make around $2500 usd a month living as a single male in Florida. That will go up a little once I start collecting social security in a few months. I have researched this topic to death and posted the same question on other sites, but keep getting different responses from that would be a tight budget to that is plenty for a single person to live on. Now, if I look at it as euros, than I know that isn't much. Could someone please help me to get a more clearer picture of whether this amount is doable or do I need to rethink my plan.
