Getting a Driver's License in Bulgaria

It's important to note that driving in Bulgaria requires the driver to have third-party liability insurance. If you're bringing your own vehicle, you should also have a vignette (a type of road tax) which can be purchased at the border, post offices, or large petrol stations. The vehicle should also be equipped with a warning triangle, first aid kit, reflective jacket, and fire extinguisher as per Bulgarian law.

As for regional differences, the rules and regulations for driving are generally consistent throughout the country. However, the driving conditions can vary. For instance, in mountainous regions, roads can be narrow and winding, and winter tires or chains are required during the snowy months. In cities, traffic can be heavy, and parking might be challenging.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that Bulgaria has a zero-tolerance policy for driving under the influence of alcohol. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.0‰. Violation of this rule can lead to heavy fines, withdrawal of the driving license, and even imprisonment.
