Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Egypt.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Egypt.

Foreigners who wish to drive in Egypt must have a valid international driving license. This license must be translated into Arabic to be valid in Egypt. The international driving license is valid for six months from the date of entry into Egypt. After six months, foreigners must obtain an Egyptian driving license. To obtain an Egyptian driving license, foreigners must pass a driving test and a written test on traffic laws and signs. They must also provide a medical certificate proving they are fit to drive.

There are no specific requirements that differ based on the city, state, or region in which a foreigner lives in Egypt. The requirements are the same throughout the country. However, it's important to note that driving in Egypt can be challenging due to the country's traffic conditions and driving habits. Therefore, it's recommended that foreigners familiarize themselves with the local driving culture and rules before getting behind the wheel.
