Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Jordan.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Jordan.

In Jordan, foreigners are allowed to drive using an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their valid home country's driving license. The IDP must be obtained before arriving in Jordan. It's important to note that the IDP is valid for only one year. If a foreigner plans to stay in Jordan for more than a year, they will need to apply for a Jordanian driving license.

Applying for a Jordanian driving license requires the applicant to be at least 17 years old, provide a valid residence permit, pass a medical examination, and pass a driving test. The driving test includes both a written and a practical component. The applicant must also provide two passport-sized photos and pay the required fees.

As for regional differences, the requirements for driving in Jordan are generally consistent across the entire country. However, driving conditions and rules may vary depending on the area. For example, driving in urban areas like Amman might be more challenging due to heavy traffic and complex road systems, compared to driving in rural areas or smaller towns.
