Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Macedonia.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Macedonia.

In North Macedonia, foreigners are allowed to drive if they have a valid international driving permit along with their valid national driving license. The international driving permit must be issued in the foreigner's home country before they arrive in North Macedonia. It's also important to note that the driving license must be written in the Roman alphabet or accompanied by an official translation.

Foreigners who have a residence permit in North Macedonia can apply for a Macedonian driving license. They will need to pass a driving test, which includes a theoretical and practical part. The test can be taken in English or Macedonian language.

As for the requirements based on the city, state, or region, North Macedonia is a unitary state, and the rules for driving are the same throughout the country. However, it's always a good idea to be aware of local traffic rules and regulations, as they may vary slightly from place to place.

Lastly, it's important to note that driving in North Macedonia is on the right-hand side of the road, and the legal driving age is 18 years. Also, it's mandatory for all passengers to wear seat belts, and the use of a mobile phone while driving is prohibited unless you have a hands-free system.
