Summary: Here's a primer on how to get your driver's license in Malta.

Sometimes when you're new to a country a task like getting your driver's license can make you feel like you're 16 years old again trying to pass your driver's test. Here's an overview of the process of getting your driver's license in Malta.

In Malta, foreigners are allowed to drive if they possess a valid driving license from their home country. If the license is not in English, it should be accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP). European Union (EU) citizens can use their national driving license throughout their stay in Malta. Non-EU citizens can use their national driving license for up to one year, after which they must obtain a Maltese driving license.

Foreigners who are residents in Malta and wish to drive must apply for a Maltese driving license. To do this, they must pass a driving test in Malta. The minimum age to drive in Malta is 18 years. It's also important to note that in Malta, driving is on the left-hand side of the road.

As for regional differences, Malta is a small island nation and does not have different driving requirements based on city, state, or region. The same rules apply throughout the entire country.
