Summary: If you're a newcomer in Kuwait and enrolling your children in school in Kuwait, here's how:

Enrolling your child in a public school in Kuwait as an expat can be a complex process, but with the right preparation and understanding, it can be made easier. The process involves several steps, including gathering necessary documents, applying through the Ministry of Education, and attending an interview. The paperwork required includes your child's birth certificate, your residency visa, and proof of your address in Kuwait. It's also important to note that the public school system in Kuwait is primarily taught in Arabic, so it may be necessary for your child to have a basic understanding of the language.

  1. Firstly, gather all the necessary documents. This includes your child's birth certificate, your residency visa, and proof of your address in Kuwait. It's also recommended to have copies of these documents. If your documents are not in Arabic, they will need to be translated and attested.
  2. Next, you will need to apply through the Ministry of Education in Kuwait. This can be done online or in person. The application will require you to fill out information about your child, including their age, previous education, and any special needs they may have.
  3. Once your application has been submitted, you will need to wait for it to be processed. This can take several weeks, so it's important to apply well in advance of the school year.
  4. After your application has been processed, you will be contacted by the Ministry of Education to schedule an interview. This interview will be with both you and your child, and will be conducted in Arabic. It's important to prepare your child for this interview, as it will assess their Arabic language skills and their readiness for school.
  5. If your child passes the interview, they will be assigned to a school. The school assignment is based on your address, so it's important to provide accurate information on your application.
  6. Finally, once your child has been assigned to a school, you will need to register them. This involves filling out additional paperwork and paying any necessary fees. Once this is done, your child will be officially enrolled in the Kuwaiti public school system.
