Summary: If you''re moving to Mokpo with kids, choosing a school if often your first decisions and impacts where you''ll live. Here are some popular bilingual and international schools in Mokpo

Mokpo, a coastal city in the southwestern part of South Korea, is not as large as metropolitan cities like Seoul or Busan and thus has a more limited selection of international or bilingual schools. However, expats and digital nomads with families can still find quality education options for their children. Among the most popular choices for international education in the region are Kwangju Foreign School and Busan International Foreign School, which, while not in Mokpo itself, are within a reasonable commute for families living in Mokpo.

Kwangju Foreign School (KFS)

Grades: Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12
Location(s): Gwangju Metropolitan City
Website: www.kfschool.org

Kwangju Foreign School, located in the nearby city of Gwangju, is an international school that serves the educational needs of expatriate children in the Jeollanam-do region. KFS offers an American-style curriculum with Advanced Placement (AP) courses for high school students. The school boasts modern facilities, including science labs, art rooms, and a gymnasium. Extracurricular activities range from sports to music and drama, providing a well-rounded education. Enrollment is open to students of all nationalities, and the school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Busan International Foreign School (BIFS)

Grades: Nursery through Grade 12
Location(s): Busan
Website: www.bifskorea.org

Busan International Foreign School is another option for expat families, albeit a bit farther away in the city of Busan. BIFS offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) program for students from the primary years up to the diploma level. The school's facilities are state-of-the-art, with a focus on technology integration in the classroom. BIFS also provides a wide array of extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, and various clubs. The school is known for its diverse student body, representing over 35 different nationalities, and is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Please note that while these schools are not located directly in Mokpo, they are accessible and serve the broader region where Mokpo is situated. Families may consider these options depending on their specific needs and the commute they are willing to undertake.
