Expat Survey: Expats Love France's Lifestyle for 2022
Summary: Expats in France report a not-surprising-at-all love for their international lifestyle.
Expats in France recently reported their opinions and shared their insights about living abroad in our recent survey to determine the best places to live in 2022.
Below you will find highlights about how expats rated the lifestyle if France.
When asked about their entertainment options (movies, concerts, museums, etc.), 75% of expats, retirees and nomads reported that they were either Extremely Satisfied (38%) or Very Satisfied (38%). This is 10 percentage points higher than the global average of 65%.
As for local dining options, 78% indicated that they were either Extremely Satisfied (44%) or Very Satisfied (33%). This is 7 percentage higher than the global average of 71%.
Survey respondents were also asked about Local Grocery Shopping options, and 89% of respondents said they were either Extremely Satisfied (56%) or Very Satisfied (33%), which was 11 percentage points higher than the global average of 78%.
Additionally, 78% were either Extremely Satisfied (44%) or Very Satisfied (33%) with the local fresh food. At only 3 percentage points lower, this is on par with what was reported by expats globally.
When asked about the quality of their local water, 78% of expats in France reported being either Extremely Satisfied (66%) or Very Satisfied (11%).
Overall, two-thirds of Expats (78%) in France reported being either Extremely Satisfied (56%) or Very Satisfied (22%) with their social life. Also, expats in France were 10 percentage points more likely than the global average to report that they were either Extremely Satisfied or Very Satisfied with their ability to make friends locally.

"We are very happy here despite our lack of language skills. People have been very friendly and have helped us in many ways to overcome some of the difficulties we have faced. I cannot think of anything I dislike about the place," said one expat in to St. Nicolas du Pelem, France.
"I spent half my life planning to come and live here, and it's exactly as I expected and intended it to be. It's beautiful, it's peaceful, it's friendly, and there are myriad historical and cultural attractions all around," stated one expat in France.
"People here are very nice, warm and beautiful, making friends is easy," commented one expat living in Bordeaux, France.
"Sarlat La Caneda is a perfect living location for those who like history, food, architecture, entertainment and outdoor activities. Health care is great and available and not so expensive. Social activities are ample," mentioned another person in France.
