Summary: Dive into healthcare resources for expats and digital nomads in Granada: identify leading healthcare providers, hospitals, and medical centers for optimal care.

Granada has both public and private healthcare systems. The public healthcare system is called the Nicaraguan Social Security Institute (INSS). It is used by both locals and foreigners, although foreigners may need to pay a fee. People generally do not recommend using public hospitals in Granada for serious medical emergencies or major surgery, as the quality of care is not as high as in private hospitals. At a public hospital in Granada, the facilities are often outdated and the staff may not be as well-trained as in private hospitals. Foreigners, including expats and digital nomads, are allowed to use the public healthcare system in Nicaragua, although they may need to pay a fee. Most expats, however, prefer to use private hospitals for serious medical emergencies and major surgery, as the quality of care is generally higher. Private hospitals in Granada are well-equipped and the staff is usually well-trained.
