About the School
Hong Kong Academy is a non-profit, through-train school offering a rigorous, student-centered education for children aged 3 to 18 years. The school was founded on the belief that all children bring a unique set of talents and strengths to their learning, HKA provides a personalised approach to learning that encourages all students to reach their full potential.
Academic Programs
HKA offers a rigorous, student-centered education. All HKA students graduate with the HKA Diploma and the Global Citizen Diploma, and more than 90% also receive the IB Diploma or IB courses.
As a fully authorised three-programme IB World School, we offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). With its emphasis on critical thinking, intercultural understanding and personal development, the mission of the IB closely aligns with our school's mission and vision for learning.
Our curriculum is designed to provide access to all learners, and we differentiate instruction to ensure that every child can access our programmes in the most appropriate ways possible. All HKA students participate in the PYP and MYP, and any student who chooses to pursue the IB Diploma is encouraged to do so. All accommodations in the DP are aligned with IB guidelines.

Extracurriculars
HKA believes that student success should be defined by the interests, strengths and ambitions of the individual. Including After School Activities, Sports, Performing Arts, Secondary School clubs, Mother Tongue classes and Seasonal camps, co-curricular options are available to every grade level, extending and enhancing what happens in the classroom during regular instructional time. Whether it’s at lunchtime, after school, over the weekend or during school holidays, there are many opportunities for our students to build on existing skills, try new interests, compete, create and grow.

Bi-lingual Education
Multilingualism is a fundamental element of an IB education. English is our language of instruction, and starting in Pre-Kindergarten we offer Mandarin as an additional language of study. Mandarin language specialist teachers deliver a relevant and engaging written and spoken curriculum which supports students at various stages of fluency and language capability. In Secondary School, students can pursue a number of language pathways. Mandarin and Spanish are both offered as language acquisition courses, and students who meet entry requirements may opt to study Chinese language and literature, opening a pathway to a bilingual IB Diploma. We also support the study of self-taught languages as a part of our IB Diploma course options.
IB Programs
As an authorised three-programme, IB World School, we offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
Nursery / Pre-K Programs

Parent Involvement
The HKA community believes that learning should be collaborative, joyful and deliberate. HKA parents contribute many thousands of volunteer hours to the school every year. From shelving books in the library to coaching sports, serving on the all-volunteer school board, offering work experience opportunities and mentoring student initiatives; parent volunteers are a key part of the engine that helps HKA run smoothly. Grade level parents partner with teachers in support of activities such as mystery reader, field trip chaperones, maths ambassadors and expert speakers, they also promote community spirit by buddying with new families, organising social events and supporting home-school communications.
