Best way to find long term rental apartments in Sousa or Cabarete

Hi, We are moving to the DR in March. I've been trying to look at residential rentals on line but suspect it's better to start off in a hotel and then get a sense of what's available and better prices. Any tips greatly appreciated. Also, anyone who lives in Sousa know the average rent for a two bedroom, or what a decent rent not inflated for foreigners might be? It appears Cabarete is more expensive. Thanks for any input, can't wait! Sarah
