Solar panel availability

I'm well aware of the known unreliability of the electrical grid in the DR but I have no knowledge of the availability and cost of PV (photovoltaic) panels in the DR as well as the necessary equipment (such as inverters and deep-cycle batteries).
I am fairly knowledgeable about off-grid power systems (solar and wind) since I have already installed such a system at a few places here in Canada.
But because I am considering the DR as one of the possible places in which to purchase a retreat / house / villa / bare land, (or whatever), I would like to have some feedback about the difficulties (and cost) of purchasing solar panels on the island.
In recent years the cost (per Watt) of solar panels has dropped dramatically for most of the world but I have no idea if that is reflected in the DR.
If anyone has any information (or links) I would appreciate it.
