Health diseases in Hassi Messoud / El Merk area in Algeria

Hi, I have been offered Office Job in El-merk area (600 Km South East of Algiers) , i surf the net and found that Pepole working at Oil Rigs / Projects are highly prone to Silicosis disease (Irreversible lung disease).

Can anyone advise me. How far it is true & serious?
