November 2006 – (July 2008)
Cegedim RX Ltd. (http://www.cegedim-rx.co.uk/), Chertsey
Lead Developer
? Developed features and supported existing functionality of the Group Management system (http://www.enigmagm.co.uk/ ), which is a web based system, written in ASP.NET (C#.NET and VB.NET), JavaScript, SQL Server, and using Crystal Reports. The system is used by pharmacy groups to manage and apply drug restrictions to the pharmacies, enabling groups to increase profits and efficiency.
? Worked as lead developer and team leader on an XML based messaging solution integrated into Nexphase to allow pharmacies to communicate with patients via automated telephone calls and text messages. Designed data structures and data importing process to read in the XML responses from the patients and store them in the database. Produced the functional and technical design documents for the project. Created a C#.NET message handling website to communicate between the pharmacy and the 3rd party telephone messaging company.
? Designed and developed features for the Nexphase pharmacy management system (written mainly in Visual Basic 6, JavaScript and SQL Server), which is utilised by several large pharmacy groups such as Asda, Alliance, and Boots have also recently announced a rollout, as well as many independent pharmacies.
? Developed and designed new data structures including tables, indexes, stored procedures, functions and views in SQL Server for an incremental patching system, written in Visual Basic 6. Using MD5 checksums for file identification, it was possible to incrementally patch new versions of software files or data files, register any dll or exe files as necessary and run any SQL scripts required by the update. Also the system would not only cleanly rollback if any errors were encountered, but also when there was a loss of power to the machine or a reboot.
? Developed and designed a tool in Visual Basic 6 to be used internally to automate the lengthy manual process of generating the monthly tariff.
? Optimised and improved existing code and SQL stored procedures (using SQL profiler as much as possible), whilst fixing existing bugs within the time constraints.
? Worked closely with account managers, and wherever possible end users to try to establish and understand client requirements.
? Worked closely with QA and UAT teams to ensure good communication and quality for the solution.
? Worked under pressure with Database Administrators to resolve LIVE issues whenever necessary.
? Aided colleagues such as QA or helpdesk staff in investigations of LIVE issues, and worked hard to resolve issues as soon as possible, whilst maintaining the quality of the solutions.
? Constructively challenged or questioned the design of existing software whenever I could see potential improvements could be made to either optimise, or standardise the code.
? Designed databases, stored procedures and tables with a forward thinking approach, so that changing requirements can be accommodated with as little extra changes as possible, and that the solutions could be expanded or enhanced.
? Designed an XML based logging system, which then imports the data into SQL Server into well structured database tables, so that the data could be reported on based on changing requirements, ensuring that the design was flexible, yet optimal.

? Created and worked with SQL server stored procedures in multi-database (and server) replicated environments.
