If you live in Argentina for a while you should definitely try polo…!
Polo is an elite and expensive sport everywhere in the world, but because of the great exchange rates, very feasible for expats in Argentina… ?
And one of the good things is, Argentina is the number one when talking about polo. The best polo horses and the best players in the world are all from Argentina.
The infrastructure for polo in Argentina is very good. There is lots of farmland, lots of horses and also a lot of people who have been riding horses all their lives. When they go to their family houses in the country, they might get some horses out and play "polo de campo" with brothers, nephews and alike.
The last 60 years or so this has developed into a big industry. Argentine polo players hire themselves to rich people all over the world (mainly UK and USA) to play for their teams. They usually also breed and train the polo horses and try to sell those to their patrons.
Almost all year round you can play in Argentina, but the high season is November and December. The peak being the first week of December, when the finals of the Palermo Open tournament are played.
Why don´t you come to our club and give it a try? We organize polo days with asado, or individual lessons.
You can not have been to Argentina, and not tried polo!
