Is Argentina crazy?

I find many things about Argentina so illogical that I have to wonder if mental illness is the issue. I do know that the % of people in therapy is quite high.

Lastest issue that is making me nuts. Sold an apartment, but as it was rented out need special permission from the Afip. So pay all taxes owed on rentals which they wouldn’t let me pay once I wasn’t a resident anymore. All accepted and fine.

They will not accept the value of the sale contract but require 2 independent appraisals to be sure we are not playing games with the sale price etc etc. Finally we think we are done and they now want two independent rental appraisals since they think the rent we charged was too low!

Well of course it was too low with 140% inflation and not able to raise the rent except once a year. And preferring to keep a good tenant we kept it low. So I am about to be charged taxes on rent I never collected because by govt regs we couldn’t raise the rent.

Can’t imagine why investors and businesses are fleeing the country! I am trying to be one but they refuse to let me.

Word to the wise, avoid investing in or buying in Argentina!
