Regulations for importing vehicles...

Hi! Can anyone tell me what the procedure us for bringing a personal use vehicle into the Bahamas? We are planning to move and would like to bring one car, but I've been told the duty you pay is 50-85% of your vehicle's worth. On the contrary, a Bahamian resident told me that as long as the vehicle is not sold, and only for personal use, it is "in bond" and not subject to these taxes. Can anyone tell me for sure?
