Considering move to the Bahamas

Hello,
I am very interested in moving out of the US to one of the Bahamian islands of the Caribbean, and I was looking for others experiences with a similar move.
I am a self-employed multimedia designer (graphic design/motion graphics/video/ audio production/etc), and I wonder if I could still do business online within the US, while living in the Caribbean (Cat Island?). Also, could I set up an underwater photog business on the specific island without too much difficulty, or is it complicated to get a work permit?
And I've read it's quite expensive to ship personal items there, and get good housing, so this would also be a consideration.
I will be visiting the Bahamas next month, and I plan to ask questions and get as much info as possible during my stay. This is a long time dream, and I'm hoping I don't have to be a millionaire to accomplish it, because I am not.
