We have an American child who is stranded in the Bahamas with Bahamian mother. Mother and child were supposed to return to the U.S. once Father had settled and prepared housing arrangements. Mother refused to comply with the agreement, and remained in the Bahamas. She then filed for divorce and sole custody. Father had remained in constant contact with the child throughout separation, and since January - Mother has not allowed the child to speak with Father. To date, we have not been successful in finding any child advocacy or outreach services in the Bahamas. It is sad to see people celebrate cutting a parent out of a child's life. Especially as the Mother did not wish to become pregnant with this child, in the first place...
