Advice on work permits/jobs

Hi,

I am moving to Nassau this summer. I have secured a job and currently my work permit is being processed.

My partner is deciding whether to apply for jobs after moving out with me or to apply for jobs from the UK.

I have read that you cannot apply for a work permit whilst visiting the country. Is this true and does anyone have any advice on finding jobs/general moving/renting/life advice?
