Bahamas vs Barbados

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone might have an opinion on this topic. I'm Canadian, trying to decide between these 2 islands where to move to in the next 2 months. I've been reading about the safety in Bahamas, and of course it worries me greatly. I prefer Nassau, giving the economic role it has, however the news coming out of New Providence are not encouraging. I am aware that media must be taken with a grain or two of salt, but ...Also, could anyone suggest a health insurance suitable to the Caribbeans and Central America?
