Looking for a room/apartment to rent for 1 year

Hello everyone,
I'll be moving sometime in October to the Bahamas if all goes well and I'm looking for a place for 1 year only (I'll be traveling for business some of the time). I can be a roommate or I can rent a place, I just would like to have tips where it's safe for a woman and what to look for.
I've checked with some Airbnb's but I seriously have no clue where to look.
Does anyone of you have an offer/idea and anything that might help me make my move easy?
Looking for furnished and not bringing much since I'm commuting back/forth to Miami where I already have a place to stay.
