Building a home a Freeport Bahamas

Hi all, I am planning to purchase a piece of land in Freeport, Bahamas in about 4 months time, and would love to start building my own home starting next year. I have a vast building background, from plumbing, electrical and framing a house. I have also had the opportunity to learn architectural design and I'm currently designing my home as i speak. What i'd like to know is how difficult is it to build your home yourself in Freeport? I plan on sourcing all materials on the island and also finding local labor to help, any input will greatly help. Thanks!

PS. i am from the caribbean (antigua), and i know here we do things ourselves but also throw a few hundreds to get stuff signed off by registered individuals.
