Starting a rental property

So after researching all the taxes, fees and pros and cons of living in Exuma,I have pretty much come to the conclusion that it is too expensive to move there permanently. That said we would still like to build a house and spend a lot of time there renting it out in between. Can anyone who does this give me any tips? How difficult is it to find someone to manage your property when you’re not there? How expensive is it to have them do this and does your rental fee cover this cost and still give you some income? How do you get started to put your house on VRBO or a similar service and is there a fee involved. Do you have to pay taxes on the rental income to both the Bahamas and the US? Any tips on this process would be appreciated.
