Hi:
I am a Canadian (anglophone with reasonable French) currently
living/working in Brussels Belgium. A job opportunity (promotion and
pay hike) has recently arisen in Frankfurt. I know a smattering of
German, although I did study it for 3 years in high school (25+ yrs
ago!).
I would like to have some advice from current or past expat residents
of Frankfurt. What's it like to live there? How tough is it for
someone who's first language is english and knows little German? What is there to do when not working? How 'expat friendly' a city is it? Brussels is very 'expat friendly' in my experience and an easy place to live so I'd also be interested to hear from anyone with direct experience of those two cities. How expensive a city if Frankfurt? Is it possible to see orginal version films in Frankfurt? Other enterainment in english? What about UK TV?
I was surprised to learn that Frankfurt is a relatively small city
(pop. of about 700,000). Brussels is bigger. I'm used to cities of
that size so that's not a problem but I assumed given the size of the
airport that it was a much larger city than it is.
Any comments/advice/experiences would be most welcome....
thanks,
Larry in BRU
