My husband is interviewing in Luxembourg next month. We are a family of 6, with our 4th child to be born about a month after we would be moving there. We would probably be moving to the Arlon area, as we can already see that Luxembourg is out of our price range. My biggest fear is that we will accept a salary that really won't support our family simply because we didn't understand the "true" cost of living. Can anyone give me an idea of what we need to make in order to not commit our family to 3+ years (minimum commitment) of pauperdom? ;) We don't need to live like kings and tourists, but we don't want to live off of rice and potatoes either, and we'll need to make enough to save money to bring the kids back to the States to see grandparents yearly. Also, our older 3 children are all school age. Are the schools public or private, and if private, what do I need to expect for tuition, as that will not be covered by this employer. Lastly, am I going to have a difficult time finding a home with 4+ bedrooms, and what should I expect to pay in rent? Thank you! I have tried to read as much as I can online, but I haven't been able to answer these questions thoroughly enough to satisfy my concern. I really appreciate your input.
