Burnout/working stress

Hello Everybody,

I moved to Brussels almost 2 years ago and since then I have been working as a manager at a large company. I have been working under a really high pressure not having much time for myself and my family, I suffer from sleeping disorders, I feel exhausted, I don't have the desire to eat a normal breakfast and lunch and particularly over the last 2 months I have been feeling that I can't focus on anything. I went to a doctor a few days ago and he insisted that I should take a month off but being really reluctant, I insisted to get just a week off thinking that I am fully responsible for my team and that I should lead by example showing to them that I am strong.

Is it normal for a manager to feel that a high level of working stress and if you have experienced similar issues how did you handle them in Brussels?

Thank you
