Considering Expatriating to Belize

Hello everyone! Just to introduce myself Im currently a US Citizen working in the middle east. I plan on heading back to the states after another 6 months or so and was considering heading down to the tropics for that fabled lifestyle.

Im going to be heading to Belize for a week long Scuba trip in Oct, to check the place out and see what its all about. What I am wanting to do is move down and get into tourist Scuba dive leading and ultimatly open up my own dive shop. I'll be bringing my gal with me as well.

What Im looking to know is what cost of living really is, what jobs oppurtunites there are in the diving field and the challenges of starting a business as an Expat. How challenging is it to start a business and what kind of taxes would we be looking at paying? Where are the good tourist areas that we be a good place to start?
