Visiting Belize for future move

We are a married expat couple currently living in the UAE and looking at retiring in Belize. Can you all advise a good place to stay that is nice, affordable ( no more than 200 usd a night) that will allow us to check out as much of the area and nice spots to buy beach homes ? Husband is an airline pilot who will be flown to / from home to work and wife is a US Paramedic with 10 years 911 experience and teaching. Hoping to find something in EMS there. We look forward to any and all info you can share with us.
