Taking the plunge

Hey everybody: I will be taking the plunge (or drive) in May of 2011. Headed to Belize, divorce finalized or not. Planning on driving down in my Explorer and settling in either San Ignacio or Placentia. The latter suits my style and preferences better, but may end up in San Ignacio for financial reasons. I will be blowing most of my savings on the import duties for my vehicle and belongings. I will be living on a tight budget, SS Disability just doesn’t go very far (not enough to qualify for QRP). I will be looking for an inexpensive (safe) place to rent. I have made good contacts with a broker on the northern border, and with property agents in the San Ignacio area. If anyone has any recommendations for rental property or contacts in the Placentia area, please let me know. I need to stay real close to, or under $400 USD/ month. I do not need anything fancy. Simple accommodations in a simple neighborhood (with/like the locals) would work great for me.
