I am 30 and will be in the position to "retire" within the next year with a few hundred thousand USD to live on. After doing a lot of research on countries around the world , I've come to love what I have read and seen about Belize.
I have worked up some kind of fantasy in my head and want to know if it can be a reality or if I'm just dreaming.
The plan is to move there and after a year of renting and moving around I would apply for residency, find a place to settle and buy a home or build on property.
I then see myself finding a way to occupy my time while making a modest income just to make my money last as long as possible. I have some business ideas in mind that I can see doing well, at least well enough to double the life of my money I hope.
I also have the idea of finding love. I don't mean to sound cocky but I am considered an attractive caucasian man, athletic physique, and don't look a day over 25 (other than a few gray hairs showing up now and then). I would love to be in a relationship with a beautiful Belizean woman regardless of color or race, or even an expat. My question with this is: Is it uncommon for Belizean woman to have relations with gringos? Do their families look down on it? Will I be hated by a community if I were to be in a relationship with one of their beautiful natives? And lastly, are there many, or any young single expat women living in Belize? P.S. my idea of beauty is not fake, starved, or anything else the US media throws at us.
