Looking to move, but start first with six month Vacation

Life is never straight forward when one partner is considered handicapped.

Long story short, I am a disabled Veteran of the US Military. Good days I walk on my own volition without assistance. Not so good days I use my dog that is trained as a service dog. I understand that the ADA laws of the United States are not really honored over seas. How does Belize rate in regards to my service do. Really bad days I am relatively stuck in a wheelchair.

I am a little torn between areas in which to live. While the Eastern part of the country is more geared towards tourism and the west side is a little more old world, but always looming is the Guatamalen claim to the Western regions.

We are not rich by most standards but are comfortable for our likes. We would have enough money to assist in setting up and procuring plants of high quality for vanilla chocolate and other types of farming practices.

We are organic by nature and would want to hire on locals. Preference to set up not for profit AGRI business where foods are donated for the most part to orphanages and other programs that assist those struggling to gain access to the ability to earn an income as well as put food on their families tables.

The main concern however is that we first take the time to live in Belize for a minimum of six months to check things out and make sure it is a good match and fit for us and my service dog.

I have a million questions, perhaps more because there are many unknowns and one questions will and always does lead to more questions. So please ask questions and answer questions as you may be able to do. I noticed that your rainy season coincides with the very time we would first be able to make the jump. Would it be better for us to come in the rainy season to see it at its worst, or come during the dry season and see it at its best?

We would prefer to live in the rainforest type area with an easy enough access afforded to the beach as a great number of our friends are scuba divers and would love to be able to come and visit and offer scuba trips to their respective clients.

Sorry I have rambled in a million directions. Please feel free to ask lost of questions so we can figure out our bottom line.

We are able to depost the $24k into the Belize banking system, is this for both my husband and myself or is this per couple?
