Best way to get a dog to San Pedro?

We've had poor luck with flights being able to take him as he's a large dog. We know that the Belize airport will accept incoming dogs, the issue is more with finding a flight that will do it. Air Canada says they will, but the aircraft that does the direct flight from Toronto to Belize claims to not have an appropriate cabin.
We're open to a variety of options to get him down there, we were really just hoping to avoid driving the whole way.
