Two pieces of good news for those looking at real estate in Belize:
1. Belize recently launched a country-wide multiple listing service. It is live, but has been a slow start. Additional brokerages will start to include their listings there over the coming months.
The official resource is called "THE BELIZE MLS". Another reputable resource is 501 Properties.
2. The Belize Real Estate Association (BREA) and the Association of Real Estate Brokers of Belize (AREBB) have merged. AREBB is working to ensure consistent professional practice across the country. They have an active ethics subcommittee and an easy-to-use AREBB Complaint Form if you experience an issue with a real estate agent, paralegal, or escrow service. Complaints are reviewed by the Executive Board to allow for prompt action, if needed.
For those looking to make the move- happy house hunting! Belize is a great place to be, especially when much of North America is entering the colder temperatures of winter.
