Healthcare in Brazil

I am planning to marry my Braziian boyfriend, who cannot get citizenship in the US (won't go into the sordid details). So that means that if love prevails, we need to move to Brazil and marry there. Since I am a US Citizen, and a bit spoiled by our health care system (even if it is very expensive), I wonder what health care is like in Brazil. My boyfriend has told me that it depends how much one is willing to pay, but basic care is inexpensive. I want to have a baby very soon, but I want to have good pediatric care in Brazil. I also don't want to live in the big cities, maybe close enough to drive in for medical care. Any advice??? My boyfriend is from Minas. We'll probably end up there, or perhaps a closer to Rio. Need to do lots more research but appreciate input on the health care system for a baby in Brazil.
