study/work in Brasil

Hi, Cayla here, I live in the states right now but have visited Brasil twice
this year and am planning on coming to study in Florianopolis in March of
next year. It is a school for me to learn Portuguese and am hoping to be
able to get a job while I am studying and hopefully stay for a while with a
job offer after the course has finished. I have been looking into the visa
application process and have found one for study or for work, not for both.
Does anyone have any previous experience/input in this area? Thanks.
