Marraige in Brasil

I am planning on going to Brasil to marry my Fiancee and stay at least for a while. The Consulate website in UK says what documents I need, but a lawyer in Brasil says in need a homologação de sentença estrangeira, which can only be done through a lawyer and costs 6,400Reais. Does anyone have any experience with this and what it is. We will be living in Brasilia. Many Thanks
