International Driver's License in Brazil

I am about to obtain a international DL at the AAA before I moved to Brazil and had a few questions.
1) Is the international license excepted in Brazil, specifically Florianopolis.
2) The AAA states it is valid for one year, does this hold true in Brazil?
3) are there any other permits or documents that I will need to have on person when driving in Brazil.
