Registration hell in Brazil!

I am so mad with the Brazilian authorities right now!

I married my Brazilian husband in the UK and we live in South Brazil where he is from. We just got our UK marriage certificate recognised here and they have provided us with a document to say our marriage is recognised in Brazil. All that's fine BUT, because UK marriage certificates show the woman's maiden name, not her married name, that is all I can be registered as here. Surely if they are going to recognise and accept certificates from other countries, they should also recognise that other countries do things differently. Just because I don't have a sentence on our marriage certificate to say I want to be known by my husband's surname, I have to use my maiden name. I have written to the registrar back in the UK to see if they can provide a letter or something stating this but I don't think it's something they usually do. So, it looks like I have to be one person in the UK and another person here in Brazil! I am applying for permanent residency here so God only knows which name I can put on my Brazilian id!

Sorry, rant over!

Has anyone else experienced this?
