I found out yesterday from a Brazilian attorney who specializes in immigration issues, Brazil no longer issues visas to foreign retirees. So, unless you have R$1,000,000 to invest in property or US$250,000 to invest in a business, you a pretty much screwed. I guess I will be taking my retirement to Ecuador.
